Where are you from and how did you become a DJ?
I’m from Phoenix, Arizona originally and I started DJing when I was 14. DJ Babu from Dilated Peoples inspired me to get into it. I got the DJ in the box from the back of The Source Magazine, straight belt drive turntables!

What is the significance of your DJ name? How did you get it?
I got my DJ name by being the guy who would sell knock-off purses, mixtapes, DVDs, shoes, etc at the Swap Meet. Joey Boy from KALV would always buy mixtapes from me and starting calling me Bootleg Kev and it just stuck from there!

Who are your top 5 biggest influences?

On the DJ side:
- DJ Babu
- DJ Jazzy Jeff
- DJ Fashen
- DJ Z-Trip
- DJ Sam I Am

On Air Personalities:
- Joey Boy & J. Philla
- Peter Rosenberg
- Charlamagne Tha God
- Howard Stern
- Tom Leykis

What is your favorite part about being a DJ?
There’s no feeling like having an entire night club full of people in your control.

What are some of your favorite tracks coming out of the West Coast right now?

Kendrick Lamar “Element”
O.T. Genasis “Thick”
Berner “Nice”
P-Lo “Never Sorry”
Kid Ink “F Wit U” feat. Ty Dolla Sign

What’s the one thing aside from music that you love the most?
My kids Aiden & Millennium and my fiance Esmeralda.
