Nike’s Air Tech Challenge II has enjoyed a resurgence in recent years, culminating with a number of premium takes on the tennis classic — including a new laser-cut NikeLab treatment. But that black colorway isn’t the only one on the way; NikeLab is also dropping an off-white “Birch” version of the silhouette. Like the black pair, the kicks pair a stark white sole unit with a monochromatic upper, employing a combination of canvas and suede alongside laser-perforated leather paneling. –HB
Nike draws from its archives again for the Air Tech Challenge in the “Volt” colorway. Featuring an all-white upper with leather paneling over a mesh base layer, the only real hints of Volt are seen on the branding on the tongue and heel counter. This sits atop a speckled white midsole and visible Air unit, while an outsole of retro teal firmly plants this new iteration in the era of the ’90s. The Nike Air Tech Challenge “Volt” is now available online.
Nike has unveiled a new colorway for its popular Air Tech Challenge II silhouette, dubbed “Liquid Lime.” Inspired by Andre Agassi’s classic tennis shoe, the aesthetic offers up a retro feel with subtle updates via a white durable combination upper, perforated holes at the midfoot, and a contrasting Swoosh. Underneath lies a familiar Air-Sole unit served up on a white and Liquid Lime color-blocked design. This is available now on Nike’s online store for $120.
Jon Buscemi recently commissioned Dank Customs to create one of the coolest pairs of custom kicks we’ve seen in a minute: a BUSCEMI edition of the Nike Air Tech Challenge II. Melding the luxury sensibilities of Buscemi’s eponymous label with the sportswear leanings of the classic Andre Agassi signature, the special creation sees a premium black leather upper coupled with BUSCEMI 100m design cues like metallic gold text branding, bag handle-esque heel pull, locked ankle strap, and shrouded key hang tags.[more…]
Adding to the bevy of Air Tech Challenge II releases from this year, Nike premieres an all-new black and obsidian colorway. Similar to the “Triple Black” iteratio. This model features a black outsole, a black midsole and black suede accents throughout. However, this model differs with the addition of obsidian-colored woven nylon panels at its midfoot and ankle collar. The Nike Air Tech Challenge II Black/Obsidian is currently available at select European retailers, including SUPPA.
Nike celebrates the forthcoming Wimbledon tennis tournament with the release of this themed edition of Andre Agassi’s favored Air Tech Challenge II sneaker. Featuring the tournament’s deep green hue contrasted against the crispness of the white so often worn by the game’s players, the shoe also sports a gold insole and branded medallion on the laces. The ball-inspired yellow circular sole inlay makes for a nice finishing touch to these retro sneakers. These drop tomorrow! Hit the jump for more looks.[more…]
The Nike Air Tech Challenge line is one that’s getting all sorts of love from the Swoosh in 2014. There’s the return of OGs like the Nike Air Tech Challenge II, there is the porting over of prints from that era onto new silhouettes like the Nike Zoom Vapor Tour 9, and then there is the borrowing of the line’s prints for retro silhouettes. The Nike Air Foamposite One here of course falls into that last category what with its Air Tech Challenge IV inspired build.
