Kendrick Lamar has put Compton, California on his back so to speak his whole career and now he’s getting recognition from the city for everything he has done. Today on Twitter, Compton Mayor Aja Brown tweet at Kendrick to announce he’d be receiving a key to the city on February 13th. Stay tuned for more on this next month and shoot K. Dot a congrats!
Compton native Kendrick Lamar was invited to act as Grand Marshal of his hometown’s Christmas parade this weekend. Bestowed the honor by Major Aja Brown, and followed closely by YG, K-Dot addressed the Compton crowd from a beige low-rider. Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre serves as the final album from the Los Angeles producer-rapper and is slated to hit retail this Friday, but you can stream it today through Apple. Kendrick Lamar, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, The Game, Marsha Ambrosius, Jon Connor, King Mez, BJ the Chicago Kid and many more are featured on it with production from Dre himself along with some assistance from a bunch of others as well. Dr. Dre announced on his Apple Beats 1 radio show that an official soundtrack for the film is on the way and he got inspired to create for the first time in over 15 years during the filming process. Compton: A Soundtrack By Dr. Dre, will release on Apple Music next Friday on August 7th with features from artists like Kendrick Lamar, The Game, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Jill Scott, Marsha Ambrosius, John Connor and BJ the Chicago Kid.
