Where are you from and how did you become a DJ?
I was born and raised in Sonoma CA. I’ve always had an interest in music, especially watching the Dj’s who played at my middle school dances, they really got my attention at a young age. One night I got a chance to DJ at little night club in town when I was just 13 years old, i had no real experience but I gave it a shot, and right then I knew that it was what i wanted to do. When I turned 14 I got my first pair of turntables, locked myself in my room, and practiced day and night. Now I’m 19 and the rest is history.
What is the significance of your DJ name? How did you get it?
My DJ name is really simple. When I first started DJing I had all kinds of names, probably like 5 different names, ha. When I got into high school everyone would always be saying “Isaac the DJ” or, “DJ Isaac” and so I thought why not just have my real name as my DJ name. So I stuck with Isaac but later changed up how i spelt it. Ever since then, I’ve been DJ ISAK.
Who are your top 5 biggest influences?
DJ AM, Jazzy Jim, J.Espinosa, Miles Medina & Kanye West.
What is your favorite part about being a DJ?
My favorite part about being a DJ is the crowds reaction when you drop a hot record and introducing new music that they haven’t heard yet.
What are some of your favorite tracks coming out of the West Coast right now?
Right now, I gotta say my favorite tracks are.. Like Whaaat by Problem, Act RIght by Yo Gotti, Paranoid by Dj Mustard & Red Noise by Sage The Gemini. The West Coast is killing it right now. I enjoy everything that comes out and its just going to get better. Big shout out to the whole #YoungCalifornia family!
What’s the one thing aside from music that you love the most?
Music is really my addiction, but aside from it I like chilling out with friends, partying, and of course hanging with family, but no matter what we are always talking about music.
