G-Eazy joins DJ Skee on the day that his album “When It’s Dark Out” is released — he explains that the album is a reflection of his current position and adapting to what felt like overnight fame. “All of a sudden you’re in the game and your whole life changes . . . everything’s different and you just try to maintain a balance throughout it all, try to maintain some perspective.” The Oakland rapper admits that he feels fortunate to be living his dream, but also acknowledges the negatives that come with the territory. G-Eazy gets into the time he ate lobster with Jay Z and what he took away from that conversation.
DJ Skee and YG talk album success, west coast rappers, and holiday plans at Camp Flog Gnaw. “What keeps me going is to see that people love it . . . like what I’m talking about on the records,” says the Compton rapper. YG’s perspective on the rap game in the west coast, is that as of right now it’s at a high point, but he says it’s only going to get better. As for the holidays, YG plans to spend it with his baby daughter as well as continuing to create in the studio.
