JR Castro and director Marc Klasfeld (Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Red Hot Chili Peppers) team up for a ground breaking, genre bending, Short Film Music Video forJR Castro’s growing DJ Mustard produced hit “Get Home” ft Quavo and Kid Ink. Set in The crooner’s hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada, Castro shows a side of his city most people never see. Seen through his own eyes is a tale of ones past coming back to haunt him, and the passion of doing anything and everything to save the one he loves.
Earlier this year, Kendrick Lamar and director Kahlil Jospeh debuted theirm.A.A.d. city short film, which was inspired by Kendrick’s critically acclaimed album, good Kid, m.A.A.d. City, at the Sundance NEXT Fest in Los Angeles. Recently, the duo announced that they’re expanding the range of the project, revealing that the 14-minute film will be shown at the L.A. Ticket and other additional information haven’t been announced yet, but this will now give fans who missed the one and only screening earlier this year a chance to see the highly-praised short film. Kendrick is currently working on his upcoming album, which he has yet to reveal an official date or title for, but is expected in the coming months. The synopsis for the short film can be read below.
“Kahlil Joseph’s double-screen projection m.A.A.d is a lush portrait of contemporary Los Angeles. From barbershops to marching bands, from homeboys drinking in the streets to the iconic carpet of shimmering lights, the camera in m.A.A.d sinuously glides through predominantly African American neighborhoods in Los Angeles catching a dizzying array of quotidian moments suffused with creativity, joy, and sadness. Joseph’s film is accompanied by a thick booming soundtrack provided by emerging hip-hop star Kendrick Lamar and indeed m.A.A.d is part of the title of Lamar’s highly acclaimed second album Good Kid m.A.A.d. City.”
