Just last month, we learned that ScHoolboy Q‘s new album would be dropping after Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s. On June 9th they will both be out which means the summer is open for Q. During Ab-Soul’s recent YMF tour date in Los Angeles, Q came out as a special guest and performed, but left on a note, “I just might have my album for y’all after SZA, so I’m out here.” Hit the jump to see it. Kendrick Lamar rarely posts to social media, but today he posted a picture of “IV” earlier today on his Instagram account. While no caption accompanied the post, everyone is already speculating that this is the beginning of the rollout for his fourth studio album. This just in, one of the most anticipated projects of the year is finally dropping from ScHoolboy Q! His upcoming, so far untitled album will release on July 8, which is a little over a month away. Get ready! This album will obviously flow around his anticipated “Groovy Tony” along with the Kanye West-assisted “THat Part.”
Kendrick Lamar is in album mode now because today he announced the release date for his major label sophomore record this afternoon. You can expect K Dot’s next effort to drop at the end of the month on March 23th, with iTunes pre-orders available now. There is no title for the project as of yet, but we can see it will contain 16 tracks. Keep it locked in!

His popularity was strong enough that last year for the release of his latest mixtape Crenshaw, he started the Proud 2 Pay campaign, where he sold hard copies of the project for $100 dollars each. Fast forward to now, Nip announced last week that he is dropping Mailbox Money, the “album before the album,” some time this month to prepare fans for the ‘Victory Lap,’ which drops early 2015. He insists that this is far from a mixtape and will sell 100 hard copies of Mailbox Money through P2P for $1,000. XXL spoke to Nip on the phone over the weekend to ask about the increase in money from last year’s P2P campaign, what exactly “album before the album” means and how it feels to see that his debut album is finally being released. —Emmanuel C.M.
