Nike takes its coveted Safari colorway to the modern Air VaporMax 2.0. The uppers of this Nike Air VaporMax 2.0 features a mixture of white, grey and black, all sitting atop a Total Orange VaporMax air unit sole. Details that point towards the original colorway can be seen in the “Safari” print heel cup, shoelaces and Nike Swoosh logo. Those interested can find these for $240. –HB
“University Gold” isn’t the only colorway coming to Nike’s Air Safari-inspired Air Presto. In addition to the golden kicks, Nike has another trio of “Safari”-decorated Prestos on tap for a Spring/Summer 2017 release. Joining the look are white, “Gym Red” and “Turbo Green” takes on the design. In all three cases, the kicks — like their golden compadre — don the iconic “Safari” motif across their molded cages and toe bumpers. The Nike Air Max 94 has mostly gone under the radar for the past few years, but the retro model is emerging again in a low-cut form and a black/red and all-new “Safari” colorway. The updated silhouette sees a lower top with a sock-like ankle collar, whereas the upper features a combination of mesh, suede and leather which sits atop a midsole with a visible Air unit. Adopting the familiar motif in black and white across the entirety of its upper, the bold design comes complete with a breathable black mesh collar, white air-cushioned midsole and a bright orange rubber outsole. Nike’s low-top Air Trainer 2 returns for Summer 2014 with a “Safari” makeup. Donning the look of the classic Air Safari, the kicks appear to be a nod to NFL Hall of Famer Barry Sanders and his decorated collegiate years at Oklahoma State – a three-year stint that culminated with Sanders winning the 1988 Heisman Trophy after averaging more than 200 ruching yards per game. The Sanders-inspired Nike Air Trainer 2 PRM QS “Safari” is set to hit NSW retailers like Tokyo’s atmos in limited quantities on May 17th.
