Kendrick Lamar’s latest album, DAMN., just dropped last week and fans have already begun to dig through all the samples on the project. Genius rounded up all the samples you need to know including Bruno Mars‘ “24K Magic on “LOYALTY.” along with homage to Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Jay Z and more in the video above.
Now that Kendrick Lamar has released and unreleased his ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ sophomore album, people are analyzing it in every way from the lyrics to the sound. Tomorrow Kendrick Lamar will return with “I,” the first single from his ‘Good kid, m.A.A.d city’ follow-up and while we don’t know what Dot will sound like, MTV News was able to confirm the sample that the track was built around. The Rahki-produced track borrows from the Isley Brothers’ 1973 version of their soul hit “That Lady,” a source confirmed to MTV News this morning. Nightshade is a dark teal color used sufficiently infrequently that when Jordan Brand dropped their ‘Nightshade Pack’ last October, most would have compared it to the new Gamma Blue or some such other wide rollout for a brand new shade. It turns out that set from the Jumpman might have been originally intended to be even larger, as today we get a first look at an Air Jordan II sample that would have fit right in. These have an edge in expressiveness over the other Nightshade Jordans thanks to the Safari print detailing, reflective 3M piping and speckles on the laces and midsole, and also pick up select neon yellow hits for a nice contrast.
