10. League of Starz “LOS.FM”
The highly anticipated mixtape that dropped this year from League of Starz was entitled ‘LOS.FM’ aka League Of Starz: Function Music. The gang stepped in with 18 tracks produced by the All-Star team hitting every level of ‘turn-up’ there can be. The project held features from artists like Problem, IAMSU!, 2 Chainz, The Game, Bad Lucc, Casey Veggies, Nelly, Tyga, Snoop Dogg, Eric Bellinger, E-40, Sage The Gemini and more. 9. Problem “The Separation” Mixtape”
The big mixtape of the year from Los Angeles rising artist Problem was entitled ‘The Seperation.’ The project was presented by Gangsta Grillz and of course is hosted by DJ Drama. The 21-track project featured artists like Wiz Kahlifa, Wale, Snoop Dogg, Game, Tyga, Chris Brown, Bad Lucc, IAMSU and more! 8. HBK “Gang Forever”
The Bay Area’s HBK Gang aka IAMSU!, Kool John, P-Lo, Sage The Gemini, Skipper, CJ, Rossi and Jay Ant released the Gang’s first official collaborative project for 2013 rightfully entitled ‘Gang Forever.’ We got to see only a couple features from affiliates Dave Steezy and Mike Dash-E along with production by The Invasion. 7. TeeFlii “Annieruo’tay 2”
This artist made some of the biggest jumps this year with his hit single “This D.” This mixtape from Los Angeles native, R&B artist /producer TeeFlii was entitled “AnnieRuO’tay 2.’ The mixtape was hosted by DJ Mustard and Young California’s own DJ Carisma along with features from YG, Nipsey Hussle, Skeme & more! 6. Ty Dolla Sign “Beach House 2”
Another big breakout artist was LA singer and producer Ty Dolla $ign! As you know the big project he released this year was entitled ‘Beach House 2′ presented by Gangsta Grillz and hosted by DJ Drama. Officially the mixtape had 13 tracks, one which blew up the charts entitled “Paranoid.” The features included artists like IAMSU!, Dom Kennedy, T. Mills, Kid Ink, Joe Moses & more! 5. DJ Mustard “Ketchup”
One of the biggest compilation mixtapes from this year was from super producer DJ Mustard! The mixtape was entitled ‘Ketchup’ and the project featured 21 tracks with guest appearances from YG, Nipsey Hussle, Dom Kennedy, Ty Dolla $ign, E-40, Kid Ink, Joe Moses and many more! 4. Problem & IAMSU! “Million Dollar Afro”
The two biggest #YoungCalifornia artists of the year have to go to IAMSU! & Problem hands down. Not only do each of them have their own mixtapes in this top 10, but they also have projects with their teams on here as well (HBK Gang & League of Starz.) If it wasn’t already enough that these two were taking over the game individually, IAMSU! & Problem linked up for this project entitled “Million Dollar Afro.” It featured 18 tracks with so many features and hits…. 3. IAMSU “KILT 2”
IAMSU!, the hottest artist out of the Bay and one of the hottest artists in California also dropped his big mixtape this year entitled ‘Kilt 2.’ The project held 17 tracks with features from Problem, Sage The Gemini, P-Lo, Juvenile, Tank, Ty Dolla Sign, Terrance Martin, Keak Da Sneak, Mistah FAB, Kool John and more! 2. Nipsey Hussle “Crenshaw”
Going down as the most expensive mixtape of the year, Los Angeles emcee Nipsey Hussle unleashed his highly anticipated mixtape ‘Crenshaw.’ You could of course download it for free, but he started the #Proud2Pay campaign which gave anyone the opportunity to grab a hard copy of the project as well as greet and receive autographs from Neighborhood Nip himself. The project held 21 tracks with features from artists like Dom Kennedy, Rick Ross, Skeme, Slim Thug, James Fauntleroy, and more. Big project, big sales, big success!
1. YG “Just Re’d UP 2”
Even though YG dropped this mixtape at the beginning of 2013, this 2nd installment to his “Just Re’d Up” series hosted by DJ ill Will & produced by DJ Mustard is still on repeat closing in on the last week of the year. The mixtape features Young Jeezy, Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J, Young Scooter, Dom Kennedy, Nipsey Hussle & more! This project holds the tracklist with songs like “You Broke,” “I’m 4rm Bompton,” “Make It Clap,” “Yo P***y,” “Bitchez,” “IDGAF,” “I’m A Real One,” and more still being played at every club, every night.
