Drop City Yacht Club dropped a little track this year entitled “Crickets” featuring Jeremih! At first it was just a great track, but then as summer started to get closer and closer the track began to takeover and was easily one of the biggest summer tracks of the year. Even more two videos were dropped for the track and a remix surfaced later on with T.I. Take a listen below to re-live the track!
9. Schoolboy Q feat. Kendrick Lamar “Collard Greens”
2013 was a ginormous year for the TDE family all across the board! The biggest track by far for Schoolboy Q was entitled “Collard Greens” featuring Kendrick Lamar as you all know. This at the time was the third leak from his still upcoming ’Oxymoron’ project dropping at the beginning of the year that we are all looking forward to!
8. YG feat. YG & Rich Homie Quan “My Hitta”
Fresh off of having the number 1 mixtape in our last countdown, YG continues on to another top 10 list! Right after he announced that he signed with Young Jeezy’s CTE label earlier this year, he released this track entitled “My Ni**a” featuring Rich Homie Quan & Young Jeezy. The track was produced by heavy hitter DJ Mustard and as you sing along word by word you already know why this is an easy top 10 pick.
7. Kid Ink feat. Chris Brown “Show Me”
Even though this track was dropped a few months ago, it is easily one of the top tracks of the year. Kid Ink’s “Show Me” featuring Chris Brown premiered on the New@2 on Power 106 with Young California family Yesi Ortiz along with DJ Felli Fel, and since then it has raked up millions of hits on multiple social media sites. Ink’s upcoming project ‘My Own Lane’ is set to drop in January and with this track still on repeat, it’s only the beginning.
6. YG feat. Nipsey Hussle “You Broke”
Continuing with more hits from YG comes the track that made the most noise from his ‘Just Re’d Up 2’ project. That track was entitled “You Broke” and it featured fellow Los Angeles rapper Nipsey Hussle. From the Bay’s 106 KMEL to L.A’s Power 106, this was listed as one of the biggest records to drop in 2013 and we agree. 5. TeeFlii “This D”
Los Angeles native, R&B artist & producer TeeFlii dropped his biggest track this year entitled “This D” featuring DJ Mustard. This was the lead track on his ‘AnnieRuO’tay 2′ mixtape which dropped in March hosted by DJ Mustard and Young California’s own DJ Carisma. This was also listed on the Bay Area’s 106 KMEL and L.A’s Power 106 as one of the biggest records to drop in 2013. To continue the “This D” run, later a remix was also released with Tyga & Jadakiss! You couldn’t scroll down your Instagram, Vine or Twitter feed without seeing someone dancing to this track or talking about it. Later when the visual dropped, he premiered it on BET’s 106 & Park, the crazy thing is this wasn’t his biggest track of 2013….
3. Ty Dolla Sign feat. Joe Moses “Paranoid”
Another huge track this year was released with Ty Dolla $ign’s ‘Beach House 2’ mixtape. That track from the project was entitled ‘Paranoid.’ The original version that caught all the attention featured Joe Moses, but a few months later another version arrived with B.o.B. DJ Mustard provided the production and this track and mixtape pushed Ty to complete his deal with Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang. Enjoy the original below, and listen to the second version HERE.
2. Problem feat. Bad Lucc “Like Whaaat”
One of the biggest tracks of the year of course includes Problem’s “Like Whaat” featuring Bad Lucc. In terms of California this track was and still is HUGE, not only was it produced by the League of Starz but it took over Los Angeles like a plague. You couldn’t go an hour anywhere in the city without hearing it, and when Diddy posted a viral video of him dancing to the track on his private jet… the game was over and the hype was pushed to the next level!
